Born Ty identifies himself as a seeker of truth and his music serves as a conduit of new wisdom, distasteful or enlightening. Though he casually introduces himself as producer of both film and music, it only masks the enormous amount of skill and talent cultivated in his quest to masterdom of self.
Birthed and raised in the Bronx, New York; the state of east coast Hip-hop in the 90’s implanted the root of knowledge and attitude he carried with him, ultimately making him “Ty”. Quickly he began to produce his own music being a dominantly self-taught musician. He grew up to the sounds of DMX, The Lox, Rakim, Mary J. Blige, Tupac, Wu-Tang, EPMD, Dr.Dre and many more who we now consider the elders to the newer generation that has arised in Hip-Hop. His music is clearly inspired by these legendary artist who belted the raw pain of the streets, emotionally spilling the truth of it. That is why Hip-hop lives and Born Ty aims to take that which gave him a sense of self and enact life into the culture that Nas once denounced as “Dead”. Hip Hop has seen the days of resurrection and continues to rise, and Born Ty is aiming to elevate the culture to higher, spiritual planes of hip hop consciousness.
Born Ty’s music balances on the line of truth and lie and his album “Born Supreme: The Price of Freedom” is the scale. It is as much literal as it is philosophical in content and context. It is the awakening of a mentally dead man to the truth of God. It is the sacrifice of self (literal and metaphorical), the very price he may pay to gain the freedom he seeks.
