Derrick Oaties a.k.a C.y.n is a native of Covington Louisiana. He grew up around music all of his life and started writing his own raps at the age of 12. He and his older brother then started rapping together as a group once C.y.n reached the age of 15. They were connected with a lot of local artist around the area that were doing the same thing they were doing; music!! The first official studio that we recorded in belonged to a young popular producer named T-Bone out of New Orleans Louisiana but who had relocated to Lacombe Louisiana. Then C.y.n who's name was Ace and his brother Larry Oaties. Jr who's name was Flesh Producer were signed to an upcoming record label out of Covington Louisiana by the name of Real Deal Records. The two young artist did several tracks while with Real Deal but Big Fuge and Kavork were the stars of Real Deal Records so they were the main focus of that label. The music then came to a halt. After graduating high school in 2001, Ace joined the United States Navy and while on his first deployment, he wrote all kinds of music and that's also when he changed his name to C.y.n, which stands for Crazy Young N!66A. Now living in Jacksonville, C.y.n connected with a lot of local artist in the area doing random mix tapes here and there. Around 2003 C.y.n got into producing. He recorded over 20 songs and made his own "Albums" just to pass around to his friends. Around early 2005, one of C.y.n's cd's caught the ear of one of his old acquaintances from high school. Conversations were had and that's when 36 Entertainment came about. 36 Ent for short, consisted of Young Boss, Chris Sky, C.y.n and his older brother Flesh Producer whom had changed his name to I.G. The first project that would be recorded for 36 Ent was Tha Wait Is Ova. The only artist that were apart of 36 Ent at the time were C.y.n and I.G. who were now know as the Runnin' Mates. C.y.n still stationed in Jacksonville Florida, the 3 members from Louisiana had to make 3 separate trips down to Florida to record the cd. The Wait is Ova album was recorded at Top Notch studios which was ran by Young Cash older brother Vic. Tha Runnin' Mates did a few shows but it was hard because the group was so far apart. A few more members joined 36 Ent and a few mores mixtapes were recorded. In 2008 while alone in Jacksonville, C.y.n started doing his own music solo and got into doing an open mic night at Endo Exo, hosted by King Ron and 93.3 Da Beat Dj T-Roy! There he met a few other talented local artist Nard Brown, Young Twan and Classic. They formed a group by the name of Black Gov. They were doing shows all throughout the city of Jacksonville. At the same time, C.y.n was working on another project with his brother. The Back on the Grind mixtape yielded Tha Runnin' Mates the biggest opportunity of their career. August 8th, 2009 the group opened up for Lil Boosie and Hurricane Chris at Club Superstars in Hammond, La. The Black Gov movement didn't last very long but C.y.n and Nard Brown connected with another young talented artist by the name of Boogie Monsta. The three formed a group by the name of Legendary in which they received that name from Easy-E when they were doing a radio interview at 93.3 Da Beat. Out of the four songs that were completed by Legendary, Drop it Low made it on the Radio in Jacksonville and got 30 days of airplay. After Legendary diminished C.y.n purchased his own recording equipment and went to work immediately. He recorded his very first official mixtape 28 Grams which was hosted by DJ Earl from Baton Rouge, La. 28 Grams made some noise in the streets but due to an error in the duplication process of 28 Grams, the cd's had a few huge flaws that took away from the cd and C.y.n's drive. Also with his military duties calling he had very little time to do music. He did a few features, another that produced radio spins on 93.3 Jams in New Orleans for a song called Relations by Ya Boy Kool ft C.y.n. The end of 2014 C.y.n started working on his latest released mixtape 7 Deadly Cyns. Using various producers including himself, It's Definitely a project that you must listen to. It was released August of 2015 and has been producing some pretty good number. The other songs that C.y.n did for his bike club Tha <a href='1 Stunnas were a huge success. Since doing those songs for his bike club, C.y.n has performed in front of hundreds in 3 major cities. Myrtle Beach, Atlanta and also Houston. This is the life of a guy that loves music, all genres!!
