DjChachi started in 1983 at the age of 13 creating he’s own mixtapes with 3 radios, a pencil and a couple of RCA to 1/8 cables that I use to plug and unplug to be able to cue the cassette tapes, the 3rd radio was the master recorder, the cables the mixer and the pencil was the master tool to set the cue point on the downbeat (I will never forget those train wrecks, awesome to me in the days)
In 1984 I deviated from dancing and took the 3 radio mix taping path to another level, got myself two Technics belt drive turntables, one with pitch control and the second one, lock at 33 1/3 (no pitch control) with a 10 inch Gemini mixer and started as a bedroom DJ (of course with better mixtapes and less train wrecks)
In 1988 I jumped from my Ibiza bedroom to my first DJ gig; a wedding party. After that I did some party’s we use to call “Pary de Marquesina” until late 1989. Then I moved to Worcester Massachusetts.
Finally in 1991 while living in Massachusetts, I had the chance of buying my first pair of Technics SL1200 with Stanton 680EL needles…. Of course one TT at the time, and a Numark PPD DM1775A Digital mixer with sampler.
In 1992 I move back again to Puerto Rico, and started as a mobile DJ. From there had the chance to play in clubs such as Zeuz, Ocho Blanco, Ocean Grove Café and some Puerto Rico’s Festival Events “Fiestas Patronales” performing as a DJ for Mc Nova (DjChachi & MC Nova)…. “Yeah I use to scratch in the 90’s” also we promoted our own Party’s under Urban Sound Productions. Our hook was “Urban Sound Production Presents Straight from NYC & Miami, DJCHACHI & MC NOVA”
Since 1988 I’ve been Dj’ing and during my career as a DJ I have earn some experience using M-Audio Torq, Traktor Scratch Pro, Serato Scratch Live, Serato DJ, Virtual DJ 7 & 8, also some experience working with Ableton Live, Sony Acid Pro, Cool Edit Pro (now Adobe Audition), Magic Music Maker 5 and Audacity to create Dj Intro – Outro EDIT’s, Remixes and Mastering Mixtapes.
In 2011 I started Turntablism and in 2013 I became DjChachi Puerto Rico’s Turntablist Rookie.
2016 I decided to return to my roots of mixing House Music and combine it with everything I've learned from Turntablism.
