When The Whole World Was Mine - Ambientronic

In 1999 AD Russia, Roman, aged 7, picked up his first synthesiser. Across the wobbling ectoplasm of a few nonlinear decades, an adult Roman felt those reverberations echo through his core. Their forthcoming sound experience makes strides to recapture that haunting nostalgia. Having crashed through some of the space/time continuum’s more minor laws, electronic duo Ambientronic have once more delivered an aurally stunning soundscape for new fans and avid followers alike to explore. Combining decades of one soul’s experience with the fresh breath of this new and vibrant co-existence, the twin beings have contorted expectations into stunning musical reality.

In “When the Whole World Was Mine,” the first release from Ambientronic’s highly anticipated third album, Tried, the international and intergalactic team explore a softer side to the electronic sound scene. It’s not the hungry growl of the ever-expanding galaxy, but the whisper of a distant star’s exhalation. This track reflects the dualistic soul’s journey as it searches through time and space to reconnect with itself. Perfectly capturing the essence of reflective longing and loss, the track is both a nod to the past and a hopeful stride forward into the boundless future.

Integrating subtle tempo shifts, and waves of various vocals layered over a hypnotic percussion line, the single ebbs and flows like the pull of the Cosmos itself. The sound effect is a masterful tour through an array of shifting moods and emotions. The electronic quality of the vocals juxtaposed with classic piano melodies creates a sense of timelessness throughout the track. Continuing their foray into lyrical work, the duo plays sound and vocals off one another, allowing the track to build into a quiet but powerfully felt emotional experience.

Having incorporated their individual experiences and skills into the essence of a single soul and sound, the duo continue to deliver superior aural experiences. In a not-so-distant future, fans of the band are floating in anti-gravity chambers while the reverberations of longing and loss flood through their musical implant devices. Building on an already rich discography, this first glimpse into the new album offers gentle requiem from the sound-storm of today’s electronic scene. Upon listening to this track, it becomes apparent that the only thing expanding faster than the edge of the universe is Ambientronic’s mastery of diverse sound.
