The best kind of electronic music, if you ask many insiders and especially fans, is honest, passionate work that reveals the inner working of the producer's heart. This is an area where 19 year old Dutch EDM sensation Chris Porter shines, releasing songs that are not just meant to make a dance floor heat up, but also that tell heart felt and compelling stories. Recently signing to Sony Music, Chris's first release on the label “Crashing Down” carries this spirit to the fullest, and even better it is a family affair. His 13 year old sister Alithea delivers the vocals on “Crashing Down” and the pair certainly have put the electronic music world on notice. The reception to the new song has been absolutely magnificent.

“Crashing Down is my first single featuring vocals from my youngest sister Alithea,” commented Porter, a musician himself since the young age of 6. “This was her first time recording... ever. I noticed her talent in singing when hearing her sing in the shower... yes... what a cliche´, and the idea to work together on 'Crashing Down' was born.”

He continued, “In my imagination, the song’s story takes place in a bedroom with a boy and girl lying in the same bed, the girl looking up at the ceiling, the boy laying on his side...turned away from his girlfriend. This scene has been my inspiration to writing the lyrics, knowing that the person you’re in a relationship with is no longer the person you need them to be.”

Despite his young age, and Alithea's the Dutch producer's commitment to capturing the right feeling and sound is clear at even a quick listen to the new release.

“My sister and I worked on recording the vocals for several days since we felt it was really important to capture the emotion exactly right,” Chris remarked on working the track itself. “We noticed that in the morning, Alithea’s voice sounded a bit more rough and therefore, less powerful and more insecure which was the sound we were looking for. We are really proud of how 'Crashing Down' portrays a story that all of us can imagine, and some of us have been in or are experiencing now.”
The reception to “Crashing Down” points to the team at Sony Music International having a finger on the pulse of the electronic music scene. Released on June 9th, it already has won over 100,000 views, has made it to 60 Spotify Playlists (including New Music Friday) and broke through as a top 50 viral hit in Germany.
It's safe to say this won't be the last we hear of the brother and sister collaborating. And at 19 and 13 years old Chris Porter and sister Alithea have a whole lifetime of creativity and growth still in front of them and a legion of electronic dance fans encouraging them forward.
