Born and raised on the south side of Chicago in the Roseland area, Introduced to hip hop at a very young age. My brother was 6 years older so I would always steal his tapes and listen to them over and over. His collection ranged from Spice 1, NWA and 2pac, to Twista, UGK and Biggie. I think this is what inspires the variety in my production style. I began writing lyrics in about 5th grade and would mirror what I heard on the late night mixes on 106 Jams. I remember covering old cassette tapes with tape so that I could record all the “B side” songs (sometimes I’d get so caught up in the songs that I’d forget to stop recording and record into the commercials). At about 18 I started recording my friends trying to rap in my mom’s basement using instrumentals. I’d follow an artist’s or producer’s discography and take notice to how their style progressed, or how their signature style became noticeable. It wasn’t until 21 that I took production very serious.
