Drake
Draft Day (Dirty)

genre: Hip-Hop
length: 4:55
bpm: 83
key: 10d

April 10, 2014

Drake is no stranger to the art of borrowing and repurposing old beats, but Draft Day's Lauryn Hill hook is a pleasant surprise, and coupled with the nuances of his voice, it proves for another catchy hit. Aside from his references to a few known pro players, an SEC shout out at the end and the song's release during prime draft discussions, Draft Day has very little to do with the actual football event, but Drake knows nothing if not how to draw a crowd, and this will be a pleaser. Perhaps not his most lyrically creative demonstration of skill, Draft Day does feature some repeated phrases with ill-placed rhymes, most notably some discussion about "that boy," but ultimately it's just another example of what Degrassi's most well-known star can do with words.
