Established in the Bronx and bred on the combination of dreams, ideas and love for something bigger than herself, Donnet thrives not only on creativity but also her melodic vibes and provoking lyrics. All of which can be found on her upcoming mixtape, Boom Box Classic.
A one stop shop, Donnet has always been the eyes and ears of her operation. She wears multiple hats as the artist, lyricist and producer of her craft. Having admired many artists throughout her career, her path is a hybrid of sorts of Queen Latifah's wisdom and the originality of Missy Elliot. Musically speaking though, Donnet has always been a fan of the passion put forth by Eve, as well as Nas' style, knowledge and longevity. She says of the fellow New York City emcee, "He's the epitome of what hip hop was founded on and it's core meaning."
Donnet is spirited when it comes to her music. Her first single, "Part Of Me" garnered national buzz on the likes of Indie Nation Blog, Coast2Coast and ViewHipHop.com due to it speaking volumes about police brutality in the U.S. Donnet isn't afraid to get personal. She did so on "This Life," a track discussing her life experiences and what it takes to be successful. Then of course she also knows how to keep it light as well. With "Pedigree" she presents an up tempo party track with substance. A well-rounded with a bag of tricks, Donnet will continue to deliver barz over beatz.
Creating music just for the sake of it has never been the goal of Donnet. She takes her artistry serious and values her role as a voice in not only the music scene, but the world as a whole. That's why she is in tune with bringing audiences not only tracks they can listen to on an entertaining level, but also can think about due to their conscious vibe.
