Dexter Neal Richmond Jr., better known as rapper “D.Rixh”, was on born October 20, 1990 in Gary, Indiana, birthplace of great entertainers such as “The Jacksons” and comedian “Mike Epps”, at approximately 7:06am.Vera Tameka Hurston and Dexter Neal Richmond Sr., a young couple, were blessed with a very gifted boywho would later go on to inspire his peers through his amazing musical ability. At the young age of six, Dexterwas relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia where he was raised by his mother and step father Cedric Hurston;but would return to Gary every summer from the ages of eight through fifteen. Quite young, yet very talented,he began to write his own rap lyrics at the age of twelve. With his influences from the Southeast and theMidwest, it was easy to see that Dexter’s unique style and character was going to have a great impact on theworld of hip hop. Unlike most of the rappers of his generation, however, his ability did not end at writing. Forboth his 6th grade and 7th grade years, he played the snare drums for Oscar Smith Middle School band. After two years of playing the drums, his interest began to lie more in building his lyrical ability and Dexterbegin to focus on just rapping. Dex got his first recognitions as a rapper when joining the rap group “G-Squad”, which at the time consisted of five unique lyricists. “G-Squad” was a hit in Chesapeake, and as aresult, they performed at many local shows and even distributed CDs to high school classmates. This wouldprovide the foundation for Dexter’s confidence to go solo at the age of sixteen and establish himself as“D.Rixh” with mixtapes “Boss Don Season” and “Hottest Out Da City”. In early 2009, a senior year in highschool, he began to desire recognition beyond his peers in Virginia. He reached out to notable Atlantaproducer/engineer “Mike MikFly”, who he met and bonded with as a youth when Mike lived in Virginiaattending college at Norfolk State University. Impressed with what he heard from his mixtape efforts, MikFlyinvited D.Rixh to record at his newly established studio (H.O.T Recordings) in downtown Atlanta. During aweekend visit to the studio, MikFly was amazed by the exceptional writing ability, natural star quality, andrelentless work ethic that D.Rixh displayed. He knew that under his guidance He was destined to be anunstoppable force in the music industry. In December 2009, six months after graduating from Oscar SmithHigh School and completing one semester at Tidewater Community College, He signed an exclusiveproduction and recording agreement with Hands Of Time Recordings, Inc. He immediately began traveling toAtlanta to write and record numerous songs resulting in the creation of a large catalog with a variety of clubsongs, street anthems, and commercial radio hits. The overwhelming feedback from his new music, and hishunger to better himself financially, resulted in his decision not to continue college and concentrate on hisrecording career fulltime. In 2010, he released the mixtape “Before Tha Deal” which featured a guestappearance from Atlanta legend Pastor Troy, who embraced D.Rixh and his VA to GA movement, on the introsong “Ain’t Lost It”. This validated him in the music industry as well as the 7 cities of Hampton Roads,Virginia. With the help of VA’s DJ Havoc and DJ Problem, D.Rixh broke through with his hit single “Rydin’Real Slow”.
