Angele Richard Smith ( born 3 March 1983), better known as Angele Smith is a Jamaican recording artiste and songwriter who won the hearts of Jamaicans in the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2009.
The eye-catching, model figure vocalist grew up in Westmoreland, where he attended the Godfrey Stewart High School. Angele was exposed to music at an early age. However, his singing expertise was showcased in high school, where he gained recognition from his schoolmates and teachers. Soon after, he formed the group Angele Boyz, from which they sang at various school concerts and entered national competitions such as the JCDC..
In 2000, the self-motivated artiste along with his group members ventured to Kingston, after Ingrid Brown, a member of Capleton’s entourage discovered their impressive talent, and started to manage them. Their name was then changed to A20. In 2006, the group released their first single entitled “Take You There”. Although A2O had limited success, Angele was not deterred by this, as evidence of his talent would soon surface.
With great determination of making an indelible mark in the music industry, Angele decided to launch his solo career. Although the versatile artiste had an interest in visual arts, modeling and acting, he wanted to fulfill his passion for music, as this was what his beloved mother, Pearline Smith would have wanted.
In 2009, after being encouraged by friends and family, Angele decided to enter the Digicel Rising Stars competition. His soulful voice initially pleased the panel of judges, from where he went on to perform on national television. The artiste was then unexpectedly cut from the pack, placing sixth.
With all this recognition and exposure he received from the competition, he did not seem to waste time. He then released his single entitled “Let Me Know”, along with the video which received major attention both locally and internationally.
The song was produced by Christopher Birch of Birchill Records. "Falling To Pieces" produced by Washroom Entertainment, was the next hit released, leaving fans emotionally high, with his crystal clean vocals.
In 2013 'mek mi love yuh'produced by G.I Production/Siennash Entertainment was released and it received favourable responses from the fans. This single became the movie sound track for "Escape-4" produced by Kanhai Condison of Jollywood production.
2014 was a great year for Angele Smith, where he relaesed an inspirational single entitled 'Bounce back'produced by the Great Clive Hunt/Siennash Entertainment. The single became one of the sound track for the movie 'Destiny'produced by Jeremy Whittaker and also the movie 'Butterfly'of Jollywood production. He also did his first international tour, where he headlined reggae shows in Saint Sauveur QC, Canada.
Angele’s current projects for 2015 includes working with G.I Production/Siennash Entertainment, Geejam Records, and Clive Hunt for which he has released various singles entitled “ Real Love (Mama) Talk Up”, “Take My Hand” and a few others. Angele is now awaiting the release of his video “Bounce Back”, which is a Clive Hunt/Siennash Entertainment production.
And his debut album and other singles done by the artiste includes “Lovely Lady”,“ Listen To My Song” and “Know Yuh Self."
Having worked with several producers over the years, including Donovan Germaine, Mikey Bennett, Computer Paul, Dale Virgo, Christopher Birch and Clive Hunt the inimitable artiste will continue to work tirelessly towards becoming a music icon.
