DJ groups have an air of mystery about them. The truly talented ones work so well together as a team that it's tough to distinguish who is doing what unless you really pay attention to each one. But even then, you can only truly appreciate the music they create as a collective. 9 O'Clock is one of those groups. The three French DJs are two time reigning DMC World Team Champions (2013, 2014) and have created their own remixes to some classic songs for fun as well as in preparation for competitions.
The DMC recently put out the winning routine from Mr Viktor, Aociz, and DJ Hertz from last year's finals. While it's filled with a lot of original production and remixes of their own, what impresses the most is how they treat the pre-loaded music as tools to create something special live. Each DJ takes his turn under the spotlight with fast, technical scratches and then they all come back together to each add a layer to the orchestra of sound. Of course they rotate turntables at one point, which demonstrates the trust each has for the other ones. And instead of adding effects to the music before the competition, they do most of it live with the cross-fader and creativity. This is what it looks like when talent meets hard work.
