Dillon Francis' declaration, "I love the internet" has never been so relevant as in his new video for Martin Garrix collab, "Set Me Free." Originally set in the ancient, bright blue backdrop of a Windows screen and quickly moving into the equally obsolete "Internet Explorer" interface, "Set Me Free" has the look of someone who's loved the internet long and hard...since about the early 1990s.
With uncanny musical synchronicity, Francis and Garrix find themselves loaded onto the screen, only to escape into their biggest fans' room, then the world outside a cookie cutter home. Though they're literally set free from an online prison, the universe these two EDM masters explore is heavily populated with computer cut-outs, gifs and the like, including one concert-goer who appears several times with her tennis racket. By the end of this funky, recycled set of images, the only thing Francis and Garrix appear to have been set free from is the pressure to follow any sort of mold with their videos.
