Hailing out of Oakland California where artist were formerly known for the Hyphy Movement, Artist YOGY which name is an acronym for “You Only Got Yourself” brings lyrical value, flow, delivery and conceptual creativity to bay area hip hop scene. After growing up changing homes frequently between Oakland and San Francisco due to his father’s imprisonment and single mother struggling to keep a roof, change, diversity and self-determination describes the music and lifestyle YOGY embodies. While being confused at first listen being from the East Coast with his strong delivery, high pitched vibrato and lyric content, YOGY lets it be known that he is indeed a strong representative of west coast hip hop. In 2013 YOGY dropped his first official album under Foundation Media titled “Kings Wear Crowns”. Kings wear crowns had singles receive placement with MTVU, MTV.com, Vh1.com and Music Choice. YOGY traveled around the country performing at A3C in Atlanta, opening up for Waka Flocka Flame and Too $hort in South Carolina also building a relationship with Platinum House inc and BSM, opening up for Royce da 5’9 in Minnesota and other various spot shows. His project was also sponsored by Kayo’s clothing brand Gold Wheels and Complex style networks stupiddope.com. 2014 YOGY dropped his first single from his new project 88'Hooligan called “Almighty Dollar” which was picked up by MTV Jams. YOGY is branded the project with collaborative merchandise including hats, beanies, shirts and jerseys in collaboration with online distributors such as kazbah karmaloop. He received praise from the Source and various blogs for his 2015 project titled “88Hooligan”. With bay area legends like Too $hort, Big Rich and Kaz Kyzah from bay area hit song “slow down” and “Its gettin hot” all in YOGY’s corner expect a new face to represent the bay area not just in the bay area, but internationally. Yogy is now working on his latest project titled “Moves under Moonlight” dropping his first single “More than Ever” Featuring Houston legend, Trae Tha Truth.
