People sometimes forget about the DJs. The masterminds behind the music. The start flag of the evolution of sound. Music from all genres require a DJ to make the music, mix the hits, and implement the thrill to our ears. Crucial to any artist’s success, a skilled DJ can make the solid foundation needed to create the buzz and blow a hit out of the water. A blessing non-disguised, T.O.N.Y Media Group would like to formally introduce the world to the turn-table genuis, DJ NoGood; a man of integrity, talent, no-nonsense business qualities, and an uncomparable season of skills and expertise.
Heyward Gifford, known as the infamous DJ NoGood, was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1972. After listening to his mother and father, whom were both DJs, it was only natural that he picked up an alert mind for music and the path they laid in front of him. A natural calling and destiny written in the scores of soulful hits alike, DJ NoGood started by simply carrying crates for his uncle. Enamored with the lifestyle, NoGood was thrilled for his first opportunity to DJ at a block party at the influential age of 13. History was made that day; and NoGood was sure this would be his calling; scratching out master mixes and embodying the atmosphere every diverse event needs and is delivered by the man at the turn tables. Like any desire, the best ones always seemed to be the hardest to attain; and NoGood moved to New Jersey shortly after high school to pursue a degree in culinary arts, all while keeping the symphonies of hit mixing and crowd pleasing jams so close to his heart. Determined to walk the path provided by his parents, NoGood helped co-find Brothers Untied Entertainment with DJ Dynamite, Chris Tolliver, and Kenny “Chen” Briggs. A year after opening the company, they opened B.U. Records, a “Mom & Pop” record store. The amazing success from the store resulted in club bookings all across the country. Unfortunately, after losing the store to a flood, the gentlemen decided to go their separate ways to achieve their own individual goals.
20 years later, this unstoppable force is stamping his logo everywhere we turn. Upon moving to the Lehigh Valley, he was introduced to F.A.T. Entertainment. NoGood’s name was now not only heard, it was known. Pumping his profession to the ears that would listen, he created a mastered genius none other than DJ K-Fresh; who took her mentor’s predecessors’ paths and landed a national tour. Through association and a map clearly created by the stars above, NoGood was sure to make the impression sought after and strategically implemented by the powers that be in T.O.N.Y Media Group; and was offered the coveted title of Young Chizz’s official DJ, signing to TMG in November 2013. His first project with the team was the “I’m Mean” music video shoot; and surely just the tip of the enormous iceberg NoGood has added to his cultured resume. Filled with ideas, skills, and experience that has become so hard to find, DJ NoGood has, and will continue to prove, to solidify hisself as the master within HIS art. Surely not a coincidence, this man has positioned hisself to move to another level beyond just being known; he will ring bells of admiration.
