Anyone who watches a fair bit of sport will be familiar with a litany of cliches. Sayings like "Don't pull any punches", "Dropping the ball", and "Take one for the team" are examples of ideas that spawn from athletics, but are also commonly used to describe situations of everyday life. We had a listen to Mr. Mermaids bass banger "Bad Boi". And although it's a song, not a contest, one cliche that wouldn't' escape our mind frame was a "Tale of two halves". Much akin to a football match that sees one team utterly dominant for the first half and the complete opposite in the second, this track features essentially two different vibes of bass music. The first is a Ragga filled energetic boost into a Zouk / Glitch beat with heavy dry bass and quick edits being the main attraction. After some wicked 2 stepping, the Cali bred producer brings us into the heavier realms and we are immersed in a wicked Trap-Hybrid headspace that's just as slow and low as it is gritty. So open up you mind and your eardrums, you'll need to use both sides of your dancing brain for this one.
