Ukraine is a cold place. But there's one DJ who's constantly bringing the heat with his vinyl-video hybrid sets. DJ Andrew is the self-proclaimed first R&B DJ to incorporate a video element to his sets, which earned him his spot in the Ukrainian R&B group, D.Lemma. Aside from DJing several venues in his home country, he's DJed private parties for 50 Cent and Nelly Furtado. But what really separates him from the rest is his choice and talent to play all vinyl sets. He's gone on to teach other DJs the scratch culture and has been endorsed by Vestax.
It's becoming more and more rare that you see an all vinyl set these days. And when we say "all vinyl," we mean changing physical records and not songs in your Serato or Traktor. DJ Andrew takes it back to the days of record marking and record stacking in this short routine. He blends "Still D.R.E." with a Tupac instrumental for a scratch showcase. Then he takes out the Tupac vinyl to bring in Lil Kim's "Whoa" to beat juggle for the remaining 10 seconds. It's always great to see someone taking it back to where it all started.
