If you're already sneaking into your older brother's room at 10 to practice on the turntables, chances are that you're going to be something special when you're older. DJ i-DEE is a shining example of that. By 19, he already had three titles under his belt (DMC Battle for USA Supremacy, Scribble Jam, and Roc Raida’s Gong DJ Battle). And just last year he was crowned the Online DMC World Champion. He's since moved onto putting out two albums of his own and producing for artists like Jean Grae, Royce Da 5’9", and The X-Ecutioners. It's only right that he's now the head instructor at Miami's Scratch Academy and a resident instructor at Washington D.C.'s Beat Refinery.
To help spread the awareness of his new EP, Hot Feces, DJ i-DEE headed to an undisclosed location with director SGZ for a four minute routine that does the most with Dillon Francis and DJ Snake's "Get Low." If people were afraid that turntablism was dying due to lack of creativity, DJ i-DEE is here to prove them terribly wrong. Although the original song is recognizable, what i-DEE presents is something totally new. The techniques of combining platter movements and triggers on the mixer add another element to turntablism. On top of that, the scratches and juggles are extra clean. As the quote from Captain Phillips emphasized, i-DEE is the captain of the world for now.
