Show and Prove with 40 DJs

We've featured solo DJs, duos, and even groups of DJs before on Show and Prove but we've never had 40 DJs in one video. In fact, no one probably has. While some of the best DJs of all time assembled in Japan for the Red Bull Thre3style Championships, Red Bull had the brilliant idea of bringing the best of the best together for a short session of greatness. They picked 10 teams of four DJs to each create a new 16 bar beat at 80 BPM. After a few days, they all showed up to make history and an eight minute video that will have DJ nerds drooling all over their keyboards. Here's the breakdown of the teams:

  • Jazzy Jeff, J.Espinosa (US champion 2015), Eskei83 (World Champion 2014), Kut Real (Albania 2015)
  • Karve (World Champion 2010), DJ Cinara (Brazil champion 2014, 2015), Charly Hustle (Canada champion 2015), DJ Pho (Colombia champion 2011, 2012)
  • D-Styles, Bomber Selecta (Thailand champion 2015), Dan Gerous (Germany champion 2015), DJ N.3.Z (Azerbaijan champion 2015)
  • Grandtheft, DJ Ride (Lucky Bastid/Portugal, 2015), Mr. Skin (Taiwan champion 2014), Shintaro (World Champion 2013)
  • Z-Trip, Ren (Japan champion 2011), Flipout, DJ D!n D!n (Taiwan champion 2015)
  • DJ Kentaro, Skratch Bastid, DJ VaZee (Poland champion 2015), DJ Wiz (Swiss champion 2015)
  • DJ Twist (Azerbaijan champion 2013, 2014), DJ Iku, Four Color Zack (World Champion 2012), DJ 69 (Kosovo champion 2015)
  • 8Man (Japan champion 2011, 2012), Aspirins (Latvia champion 2015), Shortcut, Carlo Atendido (Philippines champion 2014, 2015)
  • DJ Craze, Bazooka (Swiss champion 2011, 2013), DJ Tezz (South Korea champion 2015), Hedspin (World Champion 2011)
  • DJ Qbert, DJ Byte (World Champion 2015), DJ B=Ball (Japan champion 2015), Nedu Lopes (Brazil champion 2011, 2012, 2013)

Each team had their own style and distribution of what each DJ handled for each respective beat. Some had beat breakdowns (DJ Kentaro's group), two different beats separated by a hilarious vocal sample (DJ Craze's group), an individual showcase (DJ Twist's group), or different interpretations of the same beat (DJ Karve's group). You can tell that there was little to no issues about ego in that room, as each DJ knew what he was capable of and how they were contributing to the larger culture of DJ collaborations. More than anything, each DJ had fun participating in this creative idea and we only wish that it was longer with some back and forths between groups. Each DJ's style is apparent as the camera goes around the room but they managed to come together for something special. And as the faint outro stated, it just might be the greatest song in the world.
