You don't need to be a superstar DJ with your name on everyone's mind when someone says the phrase, "real DJ," in order to be respected. Arno .Mori is a perfect example. There isn't much information available on the French speaking DJ, unless you're friends with him on Facebook. But what we do know is that he's no scrub. He seems to not only DJ regularly at local clubs and even larger venues like arenas, but also has DJ'd for the Beach Rugby Tour in 2013. Looking at his other Youtube videos online, he's a fan of mash-ups as well as creating remixes of his own. He's comfortable with CDJ's as well as vinyl turntables, leading us to believe that he's properly learned how to DJ and not just faking the front.
This week's Show & Prove strays slightly from our typical choice. Instead of a mix of beat juggles, production from extra controllers, and/or body tricks, we went for the purely technical in terms of scratching. The video quality isn't the greatest but it's obvious that Arno practices his basics on a regular basis. In two minutes, he runs through a myriad of scratches that uses the cross-fader as well as channel faders. By no means does he cover every kind of scratch, but the ones he does demonstrate are crisp and clean. I imagine that this is what Qbert's mornings look like everyday. And nights. And afternoons.
