Show and Prove with DJ YASA

If you've been on this journey of building a blog with us from the beginning, you'll remember one of our earlier Show and Prove's with DJ Hi-C. You'll also remember that he was one half of the 5x DMC World Team Champions, Kireek. Meet the other half of that impressive team, DJ YASA. Along with Hi-C, he is a founding member of Plant Records and has had an equally illustrious competitive and recording career. He's worked with Nike and Uniqlo as well as releasing music with DMC World Champion and Ninja Tune artist, DJ Kentaro. In his own words, his style is, "FUN !!"

When Plant Records releases these recorded video routines, it's obvious from the simple aesthetic that they want you to focus on the DJ. Starting by clearing his throat, DJ YASA makes the first half of this routine about how many different rhythms he could create by beat juggling. We lost count. He even breaks out a 7" vinyl record to give you an idea of the original record used. Then he moves quickly into some fast triggers and scratches over a dubstep beat. When you watch a DJ perform a live scratch set, you're not supposed to get comfortable and ride the beat. Instead, the scratches should keep you on the edge of your seat since you don't know what's coming next. And that's exactly what DJ YASA does here.

Stay up to date with DJ YASA on his Facebok page and Twitter. And keep up with Plant Records on their Youtube and website.
