Show and Prove with The Abbott

There's not much information available on the DJ in today's Show & Prove video. What we do know is that The Abbott hails from Aotearoa in New Zealand, won the 2005 New Zealand DMC competition, made it to the quarterfinals in the 2005 Battle for Supremacy, and is currently sitting in 1st place in the 6th round of the online DMC competition. Most of his videos show him on the Pioneer DDJ-SZ controller but that hasn't stopped him from expressing his love of Hip-Hop and turntablism.

To start off his 2 minute entry, The Abbott mixes back and forth between the two decks so that you don't know which songs he has loaded up. He slowly lets you in on the song of choice: Arrested Development's "People Everyday." He continues to beat juggle to create his own echo effect until he changes gears. The last 40 seconds turns into a scratch clinic, as he showcases different cross fader patterns and deck movements. The rhythm change is what to look out for here. And he does all of this without a pair of Technics. Take note, Technics purists, on the skills when you make the best of what you have.
