Successful EDM doesn't always mean high-octane beats and nonstop movement, and newcomer TroyBoi capitalizes on this truth in his new video, "No Substitute," featuring Y.A.S. She's apparently so in love with the object of her desire that she'll "take the bad," but thanks to TroyBoi's talent, we don't have to. "No Substitute" makes use of the same addicting sounds as other fast-paced dance songs, but here these sounds are combined with a slower, undeniable beat that lends to more specialized, rhythmic choreography, separating the skills from the amateurs and effectively granting the song the ability to tickle our eardrums, no matter where we are.
No Substitute" is just as much a song to cruise to as to slow it down in the club to, and the video captures that vibe perfectly, pairing impressive lighting with perfectly captured dance moves in a steady, but not overwhelming pace. Well done, TroyBoi, yet again.
