Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" has been remixed and re-used in a number of ways, but for queer rapper, Zebra Katz, paying tribute to the renowned jazz musician is about more than putting his twist on her most popular release. Instead, Katz works with producer, Leila, to honor Simone in his own unique way: calling on the timeless art of spoken word poetry for inspiration and encouraging listeners to go their own ways in their collaboration, "Nina Simone."

It would be difficult to group either of these artists into an established genre in any way, and "Nine Simone" is a testament to their separate dedications to stay true to their own musical tastes. Far from a typical EDM style, or any mainstream style at that, Katz and Leila combine a slow, otherworldly beat with a select few lyrics and a single, computerized, illuminated background dancer to create their video for "Nina Simone." Coupled with slight references to Zebra Katz' choice of monikers in Leila's Serengeti-inspired beat, it's safe to say that "Nina Simone" pays tribute not only to one of the nation's most influential musicians, but also to the undying ability for music to speak in many different, artistic ways to many different listeners.
