Kelz TBK – also known as "The Black Kupid", is definitely not your average entertainer. A self-styled professional heartbreaker, Kelz set out to charm audiences with his star-like charisma, singing talent and rap chops.
Kelz used to be quite shy and nerdy in his younger days, but he eventually set out to become quite a sucker for the spotlights, getting out of his shell, ditching that plain school uniform and enrolling in the world-famous Royal Academy of London to study performing arts. It didn’t take long before Dymon Red, owner and producer at M2Music noticed his talent and hard work and eventually took him under his wing alongside many other quality artists.
Things seriously started to take off from there on and well, as they say… the rest is history! Kelz is still managing to stir quite a buzz with his talent, and he unlocked the door to new possibilities and audiences. He spent most of the year 2014 filming for the BBC3 “South Side Story” series, which is currently available on iPlayer. The ground-breaking British TV reality show focuses on a group of South London youth who live their lives and express themselves through music and more.
As a musician, Kelz boasts an impressive portfolio of collaborations, including working with talented artists such as Lady Leshurr, Lil Simz, Paigey Cakey and Vince Kidd. His songs keep being played at some of the largest events in the UK, where they keep wowing audiences and turning new converts to the Kelz creed! Kelz even recalls an absolute career highlight, when he had the privilege to stand in front of legendary American actor and performer Samuel L Jackson at the Shooting Stars Benefit event in London, UK.
Among other stunning achievements and career highs, Kelz had the chance to perform an absolute landmark of the capital of England: the legendary stage and crowd of Hyde Park, that he shared with major recording artists the likes of Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez and Smiler.
Hasn’t your jaw dropped yet? Wait, there’s more. Recently, Kelz had the chance to open for Lana Del Rey at Scala in King’s Cross and Angel at the Streets of Peace concert in London. He also appeared at events the likes of BCM Planet Dance (Spain), Sound Control (Manchester), Under The Bridge (London), O2 Academy Birmingham, 02 ABC 2 Glasgow, YOYO at Notting Hill Arts Club and GOLD DUST vs. This Is Music at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen (previous guests of which have included Jessie J, Rox and Ellie Goulding), “This is Wired” at the Concrete Venue, Karmel Club, London Metropolitan University, Waltham Forest Youth Carnival and boasts a special performance alongside Vince Kidd at Dionne Bromfield’s 16th birthday party.
It has been a wild ride, but not only about glamour and bright lights. Growing up in East London before it turned into the hipster hangout that it is today wasn’t easy. Kelz spent his upbringing staying with countless child-minders while his single mother worked tirelessly to put food on the table. Nonetheless, Kelz never did shy from his humble beginnings and hard times (including a night sleeping rough with his mum) and remains genuine, down-to-earth and personable. With the support of the M2Music family and his ever loyal fan base of ‘Kupids’, one thing is for sure, he won’t be hitting the big time alone.
