If you've followed our blog from the early days, you'll remember that we covered DJ i-DEE once for Show and Prove with his "Get Low" routine. Since then, he's been speaking on panels, tearing down festivals, and producing new music. Oh, and he's verified on Twitter and Facebook now. Real recognize real.
With the new Star Wars breaking all kinds of records and causing general mayhem in pop culture, i-DEE took advantage of the sci-fi fever and came up with a very creative routine dedicated to the storied franchise. He doesn't waste any time with new techniques by quickly scratching a triggered sample and going back to the mixer. Then while letting the sample play, he also slaps the turntable ahead to distort it. i-DEE uses a lightsaber sample and the pitch control on the turntable to recreate the "Imperial March" song associated with Darth Vader. It's onto a scratch demo from there over the recorded version of the same song. The demo includes some fast hand movements from juggling to scratches. These are techniques that only a true champion can exhibit. We hope that he continues to incorporate videos into his routines. In the end, the force was strong with this one.
