Chaney, born Joseph Chaney is a solo music hip-hop/rap artist. Raised on the troublesome streets of Memphis, Tennessee, he adopted the hip-hop culture from my older brother Charles at the age of 14 years old. Currently serving in the U.S. Air Force, it wasn't until 2008 when he gained an international fan base for his talents. Being critiqued by Violator Management's, Shaun Copeland and Eddie Galan of Muse Artist Management, Chaney has developed an renewed the definition to hip-hop music.
At the moment Chaney is currently recording a mixtape composed of remakes of hip-hop/rap songs of today’s current buzz artists. From northern Japan to Panama City, Florida, Chaney's buzz has grown widespread in Asia, also into regions in Europe. Chaney writes and records all his music and in the process of completing a music video from a song off the mixtape for YouTube audiences etc. Funded all out of pocket, Chaney has recorded over 100 remakes of hip-hop music from various artists’ today and over 20 original productions. Mixtapes have been Chaney's focus at the moment rewarding him with an increase of more fans around the globe.
At the age of 16, Chaney committed to Memphis local rap group named, "Crisis Family". The group was composed of six members including his brother Charles. After only a short year of composing original hits, the group parted ways after the untimely death of one of the member’s brother in the group. Shortly after, Chaney proceeded to start a solo career. Determined, Chaney performed in nightclubs and talent shows throughout Memphis, Japan and Europe.
Over the course of eight years, Chaney has completed many records and traveled all over the globe performing and collaborating with local artists making great records. Chaney is an unsigned talent and due to being a free agent has migrated into DJ’ing while still being a music artist. Considered a controversial rapper, due to his military background, Chaney has proved that nothing can detour him when wanting to speak his mind. With hip-hop music being first as an artist and rap music being a sidekick, he as combined both genres of music with great perfection to create a different sound today. That original sound today, earned the nickname, "The Original Rapper", from his peers.
Chaney normally paints pictures with his unique rhyme scheme. Listeners near and far are listening to Chaney's version of hip-hop songs. Christophe Chantzis of Alpha Omega Records in Belgium quoted, "What It Means 2 Be a Hustla" & "Get Mine", are pretty ok and the beats on "Jamaycah" are cool." The progression rate that Chaney has achieved is phenomenal. "Chaney is a very talented artist with a promising future", quoted, hip-hop artist, Kaye Styles of Belgium.
