Dandexx, born Kirk Cornelius Brown on April 14, 1976 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a multi- talented producer, songwriter, and voice over artist and a Grammy nominated singer.
His passion for music was discovered at the age of 17, while working as a baker in 1993. To perfect his craft, he would take a break from his job to pursue his art. He writes his own songs, produces his own beats and writes his own lyrics. He is versatile in Reggae, Dancehall, R&B, plus Hip Hop/Rap Collaborations.
In 1996 he joined the group Ready Fi Bus Crew, managed by Louise Frazer Bennett, until she passed.
His next venture was forming a group named Music Knowledge alongside Ras Carey and King Kazoo. Performing at such venues as Champions in Action at Portmore and Sunfest, Rebel Salute, Sting (The Greatest One Night Show in Jamaica), and a host of other shows in Jamaica.
In 2000 the group recorded their first single ‘Love Rastafari' for Di Next Generation Production WC. They moved on to other ventures such as recording with producer Michael Reid of Gogan Productions for whom they recorded three songs: ‘Don’t You Worry’, ‘Better Days’ and ‘Life Is’. That same year, they performed at Bob Marley’s birthday bash in Trench Town, Jamaica.
Later they teamed up with Dean Frazer and recorded five songs: ‘Stop the Gun Shot’, ‘My Culture’, ‘It’s Only Love’, ‘Government’ and ‘Wi A Di Fyah’. They also recorded songs for other producers like Scubbi: ‘Life’ and Leonard Brown, one of the group members who helped to record ‘In Love With Me’. These songs were released Worldwide in the U.S.A. and other countries.
In 2004, Dandexx went back to being a solo artist doing voice over work for ‘Wiser Man’ at Grafton Studios in Jamaica for Mikey Bennett as well as recording an educational song for the youths with Jack Raddicks, Ghost, Goofey and other well-known artists also for Mikey Bennett. He also recorded songs with Junior Menzies of Ethiop Production.
To date Dandexx has released four solo albums: Both Soft Answer and Music Knowledge in 2015 and mastered at Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. Proverb was released in 2016 recorded at the legendary Westlake Studios in Hollywood, California and TMP Studios in Santa Monica, California and Pure Collaboration in 2017. Proverb and Pure Collaboration have both received Grammy nominations. He has also received the Akademia Music Award for Best Reggae Album for Pure Collaboration.
His single ‘Fill My Cup’ off of Soft Answer went on to be <a href='1 on the Jamaica charts for multiple weeks. He has worked with artists such as Sanchez, Capleton, Luciano, Anthony B, George Nooks, Junior Reid, Mr. Lexx, Fantan Mojah, Lutan Fyah, Macka Diamond, Jah Malo, Smurfy D, Dungeon Masta of Wu Tang Clan and many more.
Performing at such locations across the nation as Portland, ME; Houston, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Phoenix, AZ: San Francisco, CA; and Sierra, NV. He has performed at The Roxy and House of Blues in Los Angeles, CA; I Love Concert in Sacramento, CA; Reggae On The River and other cities. Also having performed overseas in Montreal, Canada; Tokyo, Japan; Germany, Jamaica and Europe.
Know as The Poor People Warrior, Dandexx pays it forward to his community through his music and charity work. He enjoys cooking, baking, soccer, cricket and spending time with his loved ones.
This artist, who is shaping out to be the next big name, has appeared on several cable programs, including stations such as Allied Cable Vision, Real T.V., Yard Beat, CVM, Irie T.V., Music Plus, TVJ, Hype TV, BOJ TV (his video ‘Confident’ toped the charts in Jamaica TV stations), TV JA and Parallel Music (Pasadena, California).
He receives major airplays worldwide on AM/FM radio stations, XM Satellite Radio (The Joint_Ch 42), Music Choice (Reggae Channel, over 86 cable providers in the US), College Radios, Internet Radios and Music Blogs.
He continues to work with Di Next Generation Production WC based out of Los Angeles, CA which he started in Jamaica along with his brother and Producer/Road Manager, Wayne Brown, aka Bigga Wealth.
His latest project is Exercise Riddim (Various Artists) featuring Dandexx, Capelton, JahMalo, Macka Diamond, Anthony B, Thriller U, Turbulence, Shav-A, Determine, Pablo Vannichi, Chuck Fenda, Louie Culture, Hawkeye, Ffurios, KDBeast Coast, King Kazoo and Smurfy D.
