Caleya Black is a singer/songwriter from New Jersey, whose passion for music began early in life. As an only child, she found a companion in music. Some of her fondest memories are of she and her late grandmother singing around the house to Motown legends - The Supremes and The Temptations.
Aside from singing, she also enjoys playing the piano. From 2000-2004, Caleya studied with the Maude Carroll Music Foundation, where she was trained in the classical school of music. During this time, she received high honors from the Piano Teachers Society of America (PTSA) and the Music Educators of America (MEA).
Although Caleya excelled in piano, she soon found that she was most "at home" behind the microphone. She spent her high school and college years performing locally.
With a degree in Public Relations & Journalism, she has experienced the music industry both behind the scenes and in the forefront. She has interned in the publicity department at Virgin Records, performed the national anthem for the Newark Bears, and performed with Mos Def during a John Lennon tribute concert.
Caleya’s previous releases include Our Song and Roulette.
In October 2016, she was featured in Urban Magazine alongside Empire’s Bryshere Grey. "One listen to Caleya Black's single, Our Song, will take you back to time when music that ruled airwaves was so soulful, it became a genre," declared Urban Magazine.
She released her debut EP, “Still Loves”, in August 2017.
