PRONOUNCED "CA-LEET", short for "Carlito"...Philadelphia born and NJ raised Carlos Rodriguez started his addiction to the art of DJing at the young age of 12. Tagging along with his older cousin, who was also a DJ, he became familiar with music. Unable to afford his own DJ equipment, Calyte perfected his mixing skills practicing long hours in his room in a most unconventional way…with two boom boxes and no mixer. Juggling between the play button and the pause button, he would train his ear to match the beats per minute (BPMs). Calyte would even do his grade school dances with his “mixerless” setup. Once old enough, he got his hands on his first DJ setup. Throughout high school, Calyte was known for doing house parties, skating rinks, sweet 16's, and school dances. Calyte’s ability to “speak with his hands” started to get its recognition.
Calyte had the privilege of performing at the 30th birthday celebration for Shawn of Boyz II Men.
As the years went on, Calyte was making a name for himself in the South Jersey area. In early 2000’s, He landed a residency at the legendary 6th St. Lounge in Camden NJ for 3 years. While at 6th St, Calyte had the pleasure of working with the “Golden Boy and Skywalker” era of Power 99fm.
In the mid 2000’s, the night life in the South NJ area dried out. In 2005, Calyte made the move to Philadelphia in order to grow as a DJ and continue his legacy. In 2006, Calyte was a part of developing Kings of Clubs Entertainment, a young promotional company catering to nightclubs and eventually concerts. As the company’s resident DJ, Calyte started to sink his feet in the Philadelphia nightclub scene as well as opening up for big reggaeton artists with the biggest being Daddy Yankee.
In 2013, DJ Calyte teamed up with DJ Wreckless of Latin Connection Family and DJCity to form the Supreme DJs Crew. Together, they released The Supreme Mixtape hosted by Mia Mendez of the late Hot 107.9 Philly. Together they run a collective of DJ’s planting the “Supreme seed” throughout the tri-state area.
DJ Calyte was also invited to represent NJ at the International DJ Cafe's anniversary party in Delaware alongside DJ Jay-Ski of the Skratch Makaniks Crew & Senate DJs.
In November 2014, Calyte was voted the thirteenth member of the elite Senate DJs.com. One of Calyte’s proudest moments and biggest accomplishments.
In 2015, Calyte was featured twice on DJCity.com, an international record pool, showcasing their music and his skills as a “genre bender” on their weekly mix show called “Friday Fix”.
May 2017 marked yet another accomplishment, as he was recruited and made an official DJ representing Mp3Waxx.com, a global movement breaking records for artists in the music industry.
DJ Calyte continues to perfect his craft and grow as a DJ. Gaining and maintaining residencies all over the tri-state area, the Audio Architect sets the blueprint for the ultimate musical experience.
