Just Matthew™ is a rapper, singer, songwriter and DIY recording artist by way of Los Angeles, CA born in 1992.
Using his modern poetic technique delivered through traditional hip-hop rhythm and pace, Just Matthew™ orchestrates these elements to exemplify the textures of today's music and tomorrow's.
His self-released, debut EP Connery starts with the up-beat, synthpop driven Forget, the introspective r&b ballad Prototype follows, highlighted with its downtempo ambient sound. Just Matthew™ continues on with Bonnie, accentuating his smooth flow and witty wordplay over a contemporary bass-heavy production. Connery then does a 180° and ends with the high-octane storytelling of Understand It.
The 4-track Connery has fellow Los Angeles native, MKSB handling the production and instrumentation as lead composer while Just Matthew™ serves as writer, performer and executive producer heading the overall layout and design of the EP.
Living in a time where information is readily at our fingertips, yesterday's musical heroes aren't necessarily as transparent as the artists and acts currently making waves today. Just Matthew™ states it best, "some people might say, 'We were expecting a Superman'-like character' sorry to disappoint, but it's just Matthew".
