Shade 45 radio personality Kimmi Cupcakes credits her exotic look to her Korean mother and Panamanian father and says she, “embraces both sides and love every bit of her cultures.”
Quickly after arriving to New York she landed a couple of print jobs and was featured in popular urban magazines such as The Source and BlackMen. Introduced to DJ Self aka The Prince of New York by a mutual friend, Self took Kimmi under his wing. After being interviewed as a guest on Self’s Sirius satellite radio show he approached Kimmi with the offer to become his co-host.
Starting her career in radio in 2006 at Hip Hop Nation, in January of ‘09 the show moved to Eminem’s Shade45. VIP Saturdays is aired live weekly on Saturdays from 8p-12a EST. Kimmi Cupcakes’ Corner, her own segment within the show, features the hot talent and even hotter topics.
Not taking her platform on radio for granted, Kimmi remains very involved in philanthropy and spends her free time volunteering at soup kitchens in New York City. She also is active in other organizations such as Junior Achievement, Big Brothers Big Sisters, America’s Promise and Meals On Wheels.
