Without a doubt DJ OLABEAN is one of the most innovative and creative DJ/Music Producers to come out of the North West of England. His talents have taken him from Djing and promoting club events to music production and artist management, also hosting Liverpool's Sony award wining premier Urban Music show on commercial radio.
DJ OLABEAN started his career like most DJ's, from the bedroom, spinning vinyl endlessly until he mastered the art of turntablism. In the late 90's alongside DJ KOFI, he entered the UK DJ Mixing Championships (D.M.C) and they became another legend in the long list of Champions.
After the DMC, OLABEAN showcased his turntable skills as a performance Dj worldwide in various cities throughout Europe, USA and Africa. In the mid 2000's OLABEAN was involved in one of the UK's top Dj crews called THE HITMEN alongside heavy hitters DJ SEMTEX, DJ KOFI, SHORTEE BLITZ and DAVY DIAMOND. OLABEAN stated "It was an honour to be amongst kings".
OLABEAN has been making a name in music industry as a Rnb/Hip Hop producer and song writer, with production credits for the likes of Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, Ashanti, Ja Rule and Atomic Kitten to name but a few and recently has had national chart success with the likes of James Arthur, The R.I.S.K and Leeroy Reed.
Olabean also hosted Liverpool's premiere Hip hop Rnb and Dancehall show called SPEAKERBOXX SHOW on JUICE FM in Liverpool which had many featured artists such as Jay Z, Rihanna, The Game, Ne-yo, Ludacris, Floetry, Young Jeezy, Nelly Furtardo, Pussy Cat Dolls, G-Unit, Tearre Marie, Mobb Deep, Bashy, M's Dynamite and Bobby Valentino, the show also dedicated support to up and coming unsigned artists also. In 2006 Speakerboxx Show also won the prestigious Sony Award, the station never received such an award in the 15 years of being on air.
Olabean is also currently working and developing artists from all over the UK with his team BLVK who have artists collaborating with UK and international artist such as Rihanna, Royce 59 and Fuse ODG also BLVK have tracks play listed on extra. Olabean is also teaching BTEC Level 3 Music Technology in colleges working with youth centres and community centres giving young people a start in the music industry, but coming from Toxteth Olabean's heart is set in developing local talent.
