Coming soon macOS app Match playlists

Match a Spotify playlist to music already on your Mac

Spotify Link Import helps turn a public playlist into a reviewed list of songs you can match against your own local music. Paste a supported public playlist link, inspect the metadata preview and its coverage warning, then explicitly accept the songs you want to send to the shared local matcher.

The import is metadata only. It does not download tracks, use an account session, connect to a private library or start matching automatically. Spotify’s public embed can omit entries and does not provide a reliable complete count, so the preview is treated as partial or unknown.

Availability

This page previews one of nine focused tools planned for a single forthcoming Mac app. The tools are separate workflows inside that app, not browser utilities or nine separate downloads. A public download is not available, and no release date has been announced.

How it works

A clear, reviewable workflow

01

Paste a public Spotify playlist link

The app validates the provider link and reads visible playlist metadata without an account login.

02

Check the preview and coverage

Review the playlist name, listed songs, order and any skipped entries before accepting the request list.

03

Match and export local files

Review candidate versions, choose matches and save an M3U8 playlist that points to files already on your Mac.

Supported files and libraries

What you can use

Check the supported files and library requirements before choosing a tool.

Input
Public open.spotify.com playlist links and supported Spotify link forms
Imported data
Visible song metadata only, with order and coverage warnings
Output
Reviewed M3U8 references to selected local files
Private access
No Spotify account, private playlist or audio-download access

Compatibility note

A public preview may leave out songs; an observed 100-song preview limit is disclosed when it applies. Provider pages can change, and an import can fail without replacing the previous list. A match is a suggestion until you review the version and select the local file. M3U8 support depends on the app that receives the playlist.

Useful now

Make a local collection easier to match

Accurate artist and title tags, consistent version labels and a stable folder layout help reduce ambiguous matches. The library guide explains how to organize those basics before comparing a playlist with local files.

Questions and answers

About Spotify Link Import

Does this download songs from Spotify?

No. It reads publicly visible playlist metadata, then searches music folders you choose. Exported M3U8 entries reference files already on your computer.

Will every song in the playlist appear?

Not always. Spotify does not provide a reliable total on the public page used by this tool, so the preview is marked partial or unknown and skipped entries are flagged when they can be identified. Review the songs shown before accepting them.

Can I import a private playlist?

No. This workflow is limited to publicly visible playlist pages. It does not sign into Spotify, read cookies or access private account data.

Will this create a native Serato crate?

No. The export is an M3U8 reference list for an app that supports that format. It does not create a Serato crate, and support varies by the receiving DJ app.
