Coming soon macOS app Match playlists

Turn a text or CSV song request list into a playlist

Text/CSV Import is for a list that starts as a note, spreadsheet export or set of requests. Paste or import UTF-8 text with one “Artist - Title” per line, or a CSV with artist and title columns. The app shows how it read each row before scanning music folders, so you can correct a malformed line before matching begins.

Local matches are suggestions, not automatic version decisions. A clean edit, remix, intro or extended version can look similar in tags while meaning something different for a set. The review keeps ambiguous choices visible, preserves request order and duplicates, and lets unresolved requests stay in a separate text export.

Availability

This page previews one of nine focused tools planned for a single forthcoming Mac app. The tools are separate workflows inside that app, not browser utilities or nine separate downloads. A public download is not available, and no release date has been announced.

How it works

A clear, reviewable workflow

01

Paste or import the request list

Use one Artist - Title per text line or a CSV with artist and title headers; quoted fields are supported.

02

Review requests and local matches

Choose music folders, inspect candidates and select the correct version or leave a request unresolved.

03

Save the playlist and open requests

Export selected local files in request order as M3U8, plus an optional text list of unresolved items.

Supported files and libraries

What you can use

Check the supported files and library requirements before choosing a tool.

Text example
Artist Name - Track Title (Extended Mix)
CSV columns
Artist and title headers, in either order; extra columns are ignored
Local scan
MP3, M4A/MP4, FLAC, WAV and AIFF files
Output
M3U8 local-file references and an optional unresolved .txt list

Illustrative CSV

artist,title
Example Artist,"Night Drive (Extended Mix)"

Compatibility note

The export contains paths to music already on your Mac, not copies of the audio. It does not write to rekordbox, Serato or another DJ database. If a referenced file moves later, the playlist path may need updating. M3U8 support depends on the app that receives the playlist.

Useful now

Prepare request lists with useful version details

Keep remix, clean, explicit, intro and extended labels attached to the title when they matter. Consistent local tags make it easier to tell a true match from a near-match during review.

Questions and answers

About Text/CSV Import

What should each text line look like?

Use Artist - Title, for example “Avery Lane - Night Drive (Extended Mix)”. The parser also accepts a spaced en dash, em dash or tab; title-only rows are allowed but need review.

Does it automatically choose between remixes?

No. Only one unambiguous exact artist, title and version match can be selected automatically. Multiple candidates and differences such as clean versus explicit remain for you to review.

Will the playlist open in every DJ app?

M3U8 support varies by the receiving app. This tool creates a reference list and optional unresolved text file; it does not create a native Serato crate.
