It's a lot to think about all of the DJ talent in the United States but then it becomes staggering when you think about the rest of the world. One DJ that attests to this thought experiment is DJ Erick Jay from Brazil. He's DJ'd all over the world and with several Hip-Hop acts. He's been nominated for the Global Spin Awards, is the only South American DJ to compete in several World DMC Finals, and has stay ranked in the top 5 in the world. He's also a 4x DMC Brasil Champ, 2x DMC Brasil Battle for Supremacy Champ, and was a part of a 2x DMC Brasil Champion Team. Nationally, he's respected and has the awards to show for it as well. Needless to say, DJ Erick Jay knows what he's doing on the turntables.
This routine from DJ Erick Jay was his 6th round entry for the online DMC competition. Last week, we featured the winner of that round, DJ Abbott. Despite placing third in that round, we thought Erick Jay's entry was just as good in a different way. After opening with a short rap, he moves into quick, off beat scratches that naturally get you to head nod. Notice the vinyl brushing he does with his hand around the :30 mark to create an extra distortion effect. After showing off some more extra clean scratch patterns and fader techniques, he fades out the record to bring in a new one for his beat juggling portion. He constructs a new beat from the selected song and then slows it down to add even more embellishments. DJ Erick Jay's versatility is not only apparent in this short routine but also his preciseness.

And just because he deserves it, we've included DJ Dopez as an Honorable Mention for this week's Show & Prove. Below is a scratch freestyle from the young talent who is the 2015 Austin Regional DMC Champ.
